Meet the Team

Our Team

Working as part of artsNK, a unique team of visual and performing arts specialists, the artsNK Dance Development Team works across North Kesteven and Lincolnshire promoting youth dance, community dance and generally all things dance!

Amy Dalton

Head of Dance Development

Amy currently oversees the artsNK dance team and has over 8 years professional teaching and choreographic experience.

Amy started dancing aged 8 at a local dance school, but it wasn't until her teenage years that a passion for dance ignited. She studied dance at school and then went on to gain a BA(Hons) degree in Dance & Culture from the University of Surrey in 2006, a Postgraduate Certificate in Dance in Community from Trinity Laban in 2009 and a level 5 Certificate in Safe and Effective Dance Practice from Trinity College London in 2011. Alongside Amy's training, she has advanced vocational and associate teaching qualifications from BTDA and IDTA. Training at Laban helped Amy to realise her passion for community dance.

Amy have previously worked within secondary education as a Dance and P.E teacher and has worked as a freelance dance artist in various settings including youth work, physical activity, sports settings, educational outreach and community dance.

Working for artsNK for the past 4 years has led Amy to experience community dance in a rural setting as well as gain a wealth of experience teaching and choreographing for varying age groups, backgrounds and abilities. She now works as Head of Dance Development where she leads the team, with a focus on future strategy, the bigger picture and developing dance opportunities for all in NK and the wider Lincolnshire community through class programmes and projects.

Holly Arnold

Community Dance Artist

Holly graduated from the University of Lincoln with a BA(Hons) in Dance in 2011. She was very fortunate whilst being at university to get involved in work experience with artsNK. Holly got to shadow and teach her own classes, which was a fantastic opportunity and helped her gain the experience she needed, within the community dance sector. Prior to starting University Holly took GCSE and A-Level Dance at school as well as being part of a private dance school, where she completed Ballet, Tap and Modern up to intermediate level. Holly also completed the graded Syllabus for RAD ballet and received shields in lyrical and jazz.

Currently at artsNK Holly is the Youth Dance Class Programme Co-ordinator and also manages a performance company, kNacKer’d Youth Dance Company. Holly teaches Dance Leadership as well as teaching in many local Primary and Secondary schools. She is also a fully qualified Arts Award Adviser for Discover, Explore, Bronze and Silver levels.

Emma Terzza

After completing the internship  Emma undertook the Passport to Practice course with the Foundation for Community Dance thus adding a theoretical context to her practical experience. She is now working for artsNK on a part-time basis as a youth dance artist. Emma teaches Descend Youth Dance Group as well as coordinating redXco; artsNK's advanced streetdance company. Amy O'Sullivan

Community and Youth Dance Worker

Amy is a Graduate from the University of Lincoln with a First Honours from her BA (Hons) degree in Dance. She has focussed the majority of her creative work around video and choreography. This has led Amy to further her career in the creation of dance by studying for the Masters Degree in Choreography at the University of Lincoln whilst working at the artsNK Dance Team. Amy hopes to further her filmmaking skills and incorporate choreography in to the aspects of dance and dance students that film audiences may have never seen or experienced before.

As well as joining the artsNK dance team to teach on their vast dance programme she is responsible for updating the blog, updating the social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook and promoting events. She interacts with those who follow the dance team and raises the profile of artsNK. She also helps out at events, updating social media sites and you will also see her taking photos and capturing video.

Alice Carter

Community and Youth Dance Coordinator

Alice completed her BSc Honours degree in Sport Development and Coaching at the University of Lincoln and graduated in September 2013 with First Class Honours and the School of Sport and Exercise Science Academic Excellence Award. Whilst studying at University Alice became deeply involved in voluntary work engaging with young people in the local community. Alongside her degree Alice volunteered as a Sports Development Officer for a youth charity which allowed her to gain experience in applying for funding, developing and managing projects.

As part of one of her third year University modules Alice completed a group project working alongside the artsNK Dance Team which involved organising, coordinating and supporting the delivery of the Primary Dance Festival. This was an experience Alice found extremely rewarding and she enjoyed being able to apply her skills to the field of dance. Therefore when the opportunity came to apply for the position of Community and Youth Dance Coordinator, Alice was eager to join the team. Alice was delighted to be offered the position and now has the role of supporting the Head of Dance Development, with particular focus on coordinating the Inspire Dance Programme.

James Kitney

Community Dance Artist
After successfully graduating from University James experienced the life of a freelance artist delivery a wide variety of classes focusing on dance, theatre, circus styled movement and Contact Improvisation (along with many other styles) as stimulus for educating children, young adults and Undergraduate students wishing to develop a skill related to the Arts.

Through successfully being granted the job title of Community Dance Artist, working for artsNK James has now moved back to his childhood county of Lincolnshire and is currently leading creative dance sessions to Primary schools within the district, as well as being introduced to the Youth Dance Programme and many more services that artsNK is currently promoting. It is through these sessions that James is able to shadow the creative dance approaches expressed by the other dance team members Holly, Emma and Amy.

James is very much looking forward to working more closely with the newly founded JumpStart Boys Dance Crew and is currently in the process of bringing about more opportunities of dance styles for the boys to develop and flourish further into better artists and individuals. Through James’ and the other artsNK dance team members unique insight into dance and movement we hope to promote, encourage and inspire those into realising the true value and importance of the arts.
